When giving recognition to your employees, make sure that you do so in such away that the other employees will know of it. Posting the picture of the outstanding employee is good but recognizing the achievements of an employee during a company event is another thing. Always remember that your employees to go up to the stage and receive due recognition for their achievements so do not disappoint them. Besides, giving due recognition to the achievements of certain employees in public will inspire others to work harder.

When giving recognition to the achievements of your employees, you should make sure that the awards that you give mirror the importance of the employee’s achievements. For instance, the monthly awards should not outclass the yearly awards. Furthermore, the size of the event should also be commensurate to the type of achievements that you are giving due recognition. If you give your monthly awards to your employees during the regular company assembly or meeting, you should see to it that the yearly awards are given in a more grand setting. Always remember that the achievements for the whole year should merit more fanfare compared to the achievements and awards for the month.

When giving awards to your employees, it would be wise for you to give other forms incentives and perks other than a raise in salary. A raise in salary can be very exciting but giving your employees something else on top the salary increase can really make a big difference. For instance, aside from giving your top employee a raise, you may treat him or her to a vacation trip or if you cannot afford a vacation trip, you can treat your top employee to a dinner in a fancy restaurant.

Another thing that you must remember when giving the award is that you should know how to pronounce the name of the person well. You have no idea how painful it is for people to hear their names mispronounced especially during awarding ceremonies.
